Even military eqipment especially equipped for snow will have trouble with 30 inches of snow. No pickup truck is going to push this amount of snow. Maybe if you have it equipped with a snow blade to clear the road ahead of you.
For heavy snow I recommend going with square links because they will have the most grip and the links tend to be larger than other chain types. I am not sure though if you should use chains while on the frozen lake since the steel could crack the ice.

You would have to check with your local DOT to determine if tire cables are an acceptable form of tire chains in your area. Most likely you would want a chain and not a cable though, especially for a heavy duty truck since the cables are not as durable as a chain. According to the owner's manual for your vehicle, Nissan doesn't recommend using tire chains on Maxima models equipped with 245/45-18 tires.
